Vines : Approximately 50 years old on average
Soil : Clay-limestone
Varietal : 100% Pinot Noir
Plot : 4.5 hectares from various terroirs that blend together, each contributing its own complexity
The uniqueness of this wine lies in its terroir. The entire 4.5-hectare parcel of Pinot Noir enjoys an east-facing exposure on a distinctive soil divided into four distinct parts. These sections are vinified separately to extract their individual characteristics, then blended to create a single, unique wine as complex and harmonious as the terroir itself.
The vines have been here for 900 years; we are merely passing through. Respect and precision are the guiding principles that inspire us every day, at every moment. Respect for the environment, soil, and terroir is fundamental to preserving the aromas and complexity – a heritage to be safeguarded. Respect for the wine itself, because great wines cannot exist without exceptional grapes.
At the table, this wine pairs beautifully with red or white meats and even more exotic, spiced dishes. It can also be enjoyed with robust fish such as shark, tuna, or ray.
If you choose to enjoy it young, its freshness makes it a delightful choice as an aperitif in autumn or winter.

Domaine Joliet, Fixin 1er Cru Clos de la Perrière 2019
96/100
“Joliet’s vineyard sections are fermented separately before blending, using 100% whole clusters on native yeasts, with two years in cask and no racking. Aromas of blackberry and plum, hints of wild herbs and menthol. Impressive density and firmly grounded tannins carry the wine to a persistent finish: silky but powerful, and built for ageing. Drink 2026-2049.”

2017 – Fixin Clos de la Perrière 1er Cru – Domaine Joliet
91/100
“2017 is one of Bénigne Joliet’s preferred vintages, along with 2012. Still an intense colour, but not quite so primary as the 2018 and ’19? The nose shows more elegance though, with a light covering of vanillin from the barrel. 24 months. A fine full sweet raspberry fruit, the tannins are present, but much finer, and the wine is consistent as a whole. The oak adds a creamy note to the back, but very nicely integrated with the fruit. Could start to drink now, but no worry. 13 September. Whites and top reds also frosted.”

DOMAINE JOLIET – Fixin Premier Cru Clos de la Perrière – Red 2017
93/100
“A peppery hint of oak appears on the otherwise shy nose, followed by a luscious sense of toast and cherry. That pepperiness is even more apparent on the almost sumptuously rounded body. There is black cherry ripeness, the supple web of tannin and the ripe freshness that surrounds and pervades everything, but that peppery verve shimmers deliciously with its spiciness to highlight the cherry aromatics.”
