The 2019 vintage is an excellent year for the terroirs of Pommard and red wines in general. Ready to drink now or in a few years, it offers a beautiful balance between the power of the appellation and the freshness of the vintage. The style is close to the cuvées of the Domaine, with careful vineyard work that respects the soils. Red fruits, minerality, and a beautiful tension, with smooth yet powerful tannins. A fine bottle to enjoy with a good meal this year or in five years.

The terroir of Pommard, a village in the Côte de Beaune, is known for its tannic and structured character—a reputation inherited from the 19th century. However, this appellation, both large in name and size, hides a duality between its two slopes, which have very different Climats. One is more clay-rich, with southeast exposures, while the other is fresher and more mineral, with north-facing exposures. Covering 314 hectares, all planted with Pinot Noir between 250m and 330m in altitude, the soils are clay-limestone, well-drained by rocky debris, with an increasing concentration of marl as you move up the slopes. This AOC (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée) was one of the first to be recognized in 1936.
To accompany our Pommard 2019, both red and white meats are great choices.
For white meat: Guinea fowl with a creamy sauce will pair wonderfully with our Pommard.
For red meat: We recommend pairing our wine with a lamb chop.
